The Covid-19 pandemic and our society’s response to it affected all of us deeply. People died , social life was put on hold, parliaments shut down, the economy suffered, we even worked from home. It represents a remarkable event in the history of the 21st century. But not all are comfortable with the way in which we tackled the challenges posed by the virus.
Stefan Millius has been a trailblazing critic of the Swiss government’s response to Covid, arguing that vaccine passports, health certificates, lockdowns and the suspension of public life were not the right course of action. He is skeptical of the pressure the government exerted to get people vaccinated, and has some doubts about the benefit of the Covid-19 vaccine as well. Millius holds that we need to take a step back and question whether our measures were proportionate to the threat posed by the virus.
What if Millius is right? What if our response to the pandemic has been more damaging than the pandemic itself? Is it possible that the steps we took to counter the danger may have been disproportionate? There is always a possibility that our government’s response was wrong or imprudent. Then again, perhaps the lockdowns and vaccine passports etc. were justified and efficacious.
An Evening With Stefan Millius promises to be an event that challenges our preconceived notions and forces us to think deeply about the choices we have made. Join us as we voice our doubts, queries and opinions, to explore the complexities of the Covid crisis and examine the consequences of our society’s response to it.
