Michael McKay

Founder and presenter of “The McKay Interview” broadcast on World Radio Switzerland three times weekly.
As an independent advisor and founder of McKay’s, a consulting firm, he has addressed on behalf of international corporate clients issues such as better regulation; the defence of freedom of choice, effective anti-contraband and anti-counterfeiting strategies, leveraging high-level networks in the Middle East, counselling senior executives on better management of the external environment and effective government relations, enhancing corporate reputation as well as managing communication problems that accompany change management strategies. 

Mr. McKay has been a guest lecturer at the University of Geneva, the University of Fribourg, and the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. He is also a regular speaker at NATO Advanced Research Workshops; and is a non-executive Director of MEC International Ltd., London. He is well-known in the Suisse romande as the charismatic, former Chairman of the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. He has lived in Switzerland since 1985 and is based near Geneva.

Michèle Binswanger

Michèle Binswanger studied philosophy and German literature at University BS. She has writtern for different magazines and newspapers about gender and society issues. She wrote the ‘Mamablog’ from 2009-2012 for Tagesanzeiger, the most successful blog about this topic in Switzerland

Michèle won journalist of the year 2010 (main category), journalist of the year 2016 and the 2017 category for society topics. She is the author of „Die Zuger Landammann-Affäre„.

Monica Fahmy

Monica Fahmy is an investigative journalist, author and instructor in Open Source Intelligence. She is an economist with an additional Master’s degree in Economic Crime Investigation. She has worked for national Swiss news media such as Tagesanzeiger, Sonntagszeitung, Facts, Blick and Sonntagsblick. Monica Fahmy is member of the board of the Swiss Experts in Economic Crime Investigation SEECI and founder member of investigativ.ch, the network of Swiss investigative journalists.

Nikos Sotirakopoulos

Dr. Nikos Sotirakopoulos is a visiting fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute, and an instructor at the Ayn Rand University. He is interested in the history of political ideas and in how they have shaped the world we live in. In the past, he worked for more than a decade in academia in the UK. Nikos comments on current affairs in the media, as well as creating content for the Ayn Rand Institute and the Ayn Rand Centre UK. He is the author of Identity Politics and Tribalism: the new culture wars, published by Societas in 2021.

Norman Sieroka

PD Dr. Dr. Norman Sieroka, Managing Director of the Turing Centre Zurich and educational developer for the “Critical Thinking” Initiative of the ETHz (CTETH). In 2004 he earned his doctorate in physics at the Institute for Theoretical Physics in Heidelberg. At the ETH Zurich, he earned a further doctorate as well as his habilitation, both in philosophy.

Pascal Gemperli

Pascal Gemperli holds a diploma in communication-engineering-management from the University of Applied Sciences in Yverdon as well as a Master degree in peace and conflict studies from the Fernuniversität Hagen. He’s a trained mediator and coach, accredited by the Swiss Federation of Mediators and the International Coach Federation; he is also a sworn mediator for civil and juvenile penal law mediation by the Cantonal court of the Canton of Vaud.

Pascal is running Gemperli Consulting Sàrl, an Ltd company specialised in mediation, coaching, communication/management and development cooperation. He’s also part-time secretary general for UVAM and project coordinator for ae-Centre, a NGO specialised in mediation and peacebuilding in North Africa, which he co-founded in 2007.

Pascal is engaged in local politics for the Green party in Morges and is currently presiding the city council (legislative). He is married and father of two young girls.

Pauline Hadaway

Pauline Hadaway has worked in arts and education since 1990 and is co-founder of The Liverpool Salon, a new forum for public debate on Merseyside. In her doctoral research at the University of Manchester, Pauline is currently exploring different uses of arts, heritage and culture as tools for peace building in Northern Ireland. Pauline has been published widely including: ‘Policing the Public Gaze’ (2009), a report for campaign group, The Manifesto Club; ‘Escaping the Panopticon’ (2012) and ‘Re-imagining Titanic, re-imaging Belfast’ a chapter in ‘Relaunching Titanic: Memory and Marketing in the ‘Post Conflict City’ (2013).

Pius Knüsel

Pius Knüsel moved to Zurich in 1985, where he worked for Swiss Television as cultural editor and as freelancer for several print products. He switched to culture management in 1992, when he was appointed director of the Moods Jazz Club. From 1998 to 2002, he was head of the cultural sponsoring department of Credit Suisse Switzerland; from 2002 to 2012 director of Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council. In 2012 „Kulturinfarkt“, a polemic 250 pages review of contemporary cultural politics, written jointly with three German colleagues, provoked a true scandal. The focal points were that cultural policies in Europe foster elitist thinking, are strongly segregative and hinder true artistic innovation. The main proposal was to shut down half of the cultural institutions and to use the money for boosting creative industries, amateurs and grass root initiatives. Nowadays he works in adult eduction, teaches fund-raising and arts management at several universities and professional schools and publishes about arts, culture and politics.

Prof Frank Schimmelfennig

Frank Schimmelfennig is professor of European politics at ETH Zurich and director of the Center for Comparative and International Studies at ETH and the University of Zurich. He is also a Schuman fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in Florence. His areas of research include regional integration theory, EU enlargement, and EU democratisation and democracy promotion. Current research projects focus on differentiated European integration, international parliaments and the dynamics of integration discourses in Europe. In addition, Frank has published on the euro crisis, the migration crisis and Brexit. His book The EU, NATO and the Integration of Europe. Rules and Rhetoric (Cambridge University Press) received the Best Book Award of the European Union Studies Association.

Prof. Dr. Hans-Ueli Vogt

Hans-Ueli Vogt is a member of both the Swiss National Assembly and the Legal Commission of the National Council. He is also a full professor of law at the University of Zurich. Hans-Ueli recently drafted the „self-determination initiative“. This initiative, which will be subject to a referendum, seeks to ensure that the Federal Constitution becomes the ultimate source of law for the Swiss Confederation: putting its constitution above non-obligatory laws such as bilateral agreements with the EU.
